Drifting
Appearance
A drift is always there: Shift on a keyboard, B on a pad, the DRIFT pad on a phone. In the craft it is the brake and the boost held together.
- Grip drops to 45% and the craft slides wide; the nose swings further into the bend to hold it.
- Left alone, a drift holds its line; the keys lean it in or out.
- It holds above 86 km/h, and loses 15 m/s a second (the airbrake loses 18).
- The boost meter neither spends nor fills while drifting.
- The slide charges a kick of boost, paid when you let go, in three tiers: 0.25 s at tier 1, 0.5 s at tier 2, 0.75 s at tier 3. A wall hit loses the charge.
A drift pays boost, not cornering speed. Rivals drift from PRO up.
